Yesterday Brittany and I decided to take a bicycle ride to Boulder, CO from Denver, CO (Capitol Hill).  While Boulder is not of great distance, when riding with a fixed cog up hills in the wind and rain, it makes for quite an acheivement; assuming the point was actually reached.

The ride straight down Lowell Blvd from 32nd to 104th was fBee on Lowell Blvdairly pleasant except for one hil.  As we approached Westminster the landscape was flat, there was a bike path, but we eventually hit a fork in the road; literally, which caused loss of direction the rest of the ride.

We were given the wrong directions by three different people and ended up in both Louisville and Superior two different times each.  We were constantly turning around, riding up major roads and hills as the wind speed increased and it began raining harder.

The fourth time we enHillded up between Louisville and Superior, we put our weary legs back on the bicycle and rode to Whole Foods.  A dangerous place when you’ve just had a three and a half hour, fairly miserable, workout.

Caught the B back after our stomachs were full of Indian curry, and upon arriving to Market Street Station we thought “huh…that was a quick ride.”

Nonetheless, accomplishment? Yes.  Do I feel like I need a knee replacement? Yes.

My next large investment after my San Francisco trip will undoubtedly be a touring bicycle.
